Tucson home sales slip in Sept., but still outpace 2012
Home prices and sales in the Tucson area slipped in September, though they still outpaced the same month last year, according to the latest figures form the Tucson Association of Realtors. The average sales price in September was $189,042, down about 1 percent from August and up nearly 4 percent compared with September 2012, according to the Tucson Realtors’ Multiple Listing Service. Street Smarts: Man who helped grow Tucson remembered with a street in his name
Goyette Avenue, just north of East Grant Road and two blocks east of North Columbus Boulevard, was named in honor of one of Tucson’s most important citizens. C. Edgar Goyette, known as “Ed,” was born to Charles and Jessie Goyette in 1892 in Des Moines, Iowa. His father worked in sales and moved his family from Iowa to Los Angeles sometime in the first decade of the 1900s. After graduating from Los Angeles High School in 1911, Ed moved to Tucson, at a time when the population was about 13,000, to attend the University of Arizona. Zombies Invade Downtown Tucson Mansion
On Saturday, October 19, 2013, a swarm of zombies descended on Maker House, located in the Bates Mansion at 283 North Stone. The event ran from 5-10 pm and featured food trucks, games and contests.
