Whether you are looking for haunted hayrides, or you are looking for something a little less scary, there is plenty of Halloween themed fun happening in Tucson through September and October. Here are some of Tucson’s residents’ favorite Halloween events.
Fall Pumpkin Celebration
The perfect event to get in the fall mood, The Fall Pumpkin Celebration held at Apple Annie’s Produce and Pumpkins, on September 27 and September 28, 2014, is full of old fashioned fall fun. Pick pumpkins and other seasonal fruits and vegetables and get lost in the three level corn maze. If you get out to the Fall Pumpkin Celebration early enough, you can enjoy the “all you can eat” pancake breakfast, or if you are more of an afternoon person, there will be an apple smoked bacon lunch. This event happens every weekend through to the end of October.
Feast of the Dearly Departed at Tucson Botanical Gardens
The Feast of the Dearly Departed is Tucson’s best Day of the Dead celebration. Held at the Tucson Botanical Gardens on October 25, from 5-8pm, this celebration includes a procession, mummer painting, classes and workshops, storytelling, and mariachi music. The procession will head through the gardens and through to Nuestro Jardin, which honor’s Tucson’s Mexican American neighborhood gardens. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the gardens.
Halloween Howl at Colossal Cave
If you are looking for a dark Halloween celebration then the Halloween Howl held at Colossal Cave may be worth a visit. Take a ride through a ghostly ranch, play games under the moon, jump on a haunted hayride, or take a candlelight ghost tour of Colossal Cave. These are just a few of the events you will find at the Halloween howl, there will also be plenty of things to do for younger children, including pony rides and jumping castles. There are no reservation needed for cave tours, however it is suggested you make a reservation for hayrides. This event will take place on Oct 17, 18, 24, 25 & 26.
Howl-O-Ween at Reid Park Zoo
Howl-O-Ween at the Reid Park Zoo is a favorite amongst many Tucson residents when it comes to Tucson Halloween events. Held on Oct 24, 25 & 26 from 6-8pm at the Reid Park Zoo, Howl-O-Ween celebrations include meeting costumed characters and strolling through the zoo to take a glimpse at all the spooky decorations. If you have little children with you, they will enjoy trick or treating throughout the zoo.
Night of Fright at Pima Air and Space Museum
If you are looking for Tucson Halloween events that removes the scary but still includes plenty of fun, Night of Fright is a great non-scary event. This carnival includes Halloween fun such as trick or treating, magic shows, a baked goods walk, pony rides, and plenty of fun and games. Held every year on the Friday before Halloween this is the perfect event for kids that are not impressed by the scary Halloween fun. The Flight Grill restaurant will also be holding Halloween-themed dinners and all air crafts and exhibits at the Pima Air and Space Museum will be open for viewing.
