Nestled northwest of Tucson, Marana continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona for a variety of reasons.
Marana’s Safety Statistics
In an attempt to discover the most dangerous cities in Arizona, Phoenix’s Orent Law Offices analyzed data from 40 communities in conjunction with 1 Point 21 Interactive. To be considered in the study, the city had to exceed a population of 10,000. Tucson was found to be the most dangerous while its neighbor to the north fell on the opposite end of the spectrum from data within three categories: crime, community, and police.
- Crime: FBI statistics were used to determine the rate of violent crimes per capita such as murder and rape. Marana ranked 30/40.
- Community: Socioeconomic factors come into play—namely unemployment and poverty rates, high school graduate statistics, and income. Marana was 40/40—the highest ranking city in this category.
- Police: Data analysis revealed that Marana ranked 6th overall when considering police officers per citizen and the department’s annual budget. Rank: 35/40.
