Your Guide To Safford Peak
Arizona is a beautiful state where nature abounds. Residents are known to take to the hills when it’s time to get away from the stresses of daily life, and the scenery surrounding much of the state is unlike anything you can find elsewhere on this earth. Of course, each area has something special about it that makes it even more unique than the other impeccable places in this desert destination. In the Tucson Mountain region, one of these special places is known as Safford Peak.
About Safford Peak
Safford Peak, affectionately referred to as Sombrero Peak by the locals, is a favorite out-of-town destination for many Tucson residents and visitors. This popular peak can be found at the far northern reaches of Saguaro National Park, which lies in northwest Tucson. If you’re looking for spectacular views of the city and a great vantage point of the surrounding mountain ranges, Safford Peak is the place you’ll want to be.
A trip up to the summit of Sombrero Peak will afford you everything you need to truly appreciate the breathtaking natural beauty of the greater Tucson area. This stunning high Sonoran desert land is dotted with plenty of decorative landscape attributes. Along the trail, keep an eye out for Teddy Bear and Cane Chollas. If you’re heading to this high area after precipitation falls, be sure to look for the bright red blooms of the Ocatillo that surround the area. In the sky, a variety of birds will keep your eye wandering along the blue backdrop, and around your feet, you may spot a ringtail if he’s off his nocturnal clock. It’s important to be mindful that this climate is the perfect setting for rattle snakes, and you should mind the wilderness as you trek along your path.

These trails are good for people who wish to walk, as they only contain a couple short upgrades. Although these are trails are great for walking, it is advisable to wear proper footwear, as these paths can be quite rocky. The Scenic, Packrat, and Passey Loop Trails are perfect places for taking in the surrounding scenery and catching some of the wild west’s most beautiful blooms in action.
